The Perfect Victim vs. the Imperfect Victim

Sisters Grimm’s Impact Fund is dedicated to driving systemic change through the arts, storytelling, and advocacy.

We commissioned the white paper The Perfect Victim vs. The Imperfect Victim to expose how harmful myths in the way gender-based violence (GBV) is treated within justice systems worldwide continue to silence survivors of rape and deny them dignity.

To amplify this research, we have produced a three-part advocacy film series. Each piece combines original music by Ella Spira MBE, co-produced with Paul Theodorou with narration by leading legal advocates from Lawyers against Abuse (LvA), including Basetsana Koitsioe, Nwadisa Dlova, Samantha Collins, Ncumisa Sopazi, and Boitumelo Pinkone.

We are proud to launch the first two films in the series, with the third to follow.

Our mission is clear: to challenge the “perfect victim” stereotype, ensure survivors of gender-based violence are heard, and advocate for policies that protect women’s rights and equality.
