An exclusive and limited VIP Wine Tasting Experience with Charles Back at The House of Sisters Grimm
Monday, 18 May 2026 from 6 – 10pm
The House of Sisters Grimm, London’s newest cultural destination featuring a glamorous multimedia art gallery, theatre and iGOLI, London’s only exclusively South African fine wine bar, are proud to host legendary winemaker and vineyard owner Charles Louis Back for an evening of anecdotes, South African wine history and a guided flight of five premium wines.
Modern South African wine
Charles Back is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern South African wine. Through Fairview and Spice Route, he has played a defining role in shaping the Swartland and Western Cape into globally respected wine regions.
His approach has consistently pushed boundaries—championing climate-appropriate varieties, unlocking the potential of overlooked regions, refining vineyard practices, and leading the revival of old vines. In recognition of his impact, he received the International Wine Challenge Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 at the age of just 58.

A Legacy of Excellence
In April 2006, South African WINE Magazine voted Back the second most influential person in the South African wine industry, after Nelson Mandela.
Along with WIETA certification (ethical labour standard) across all wines and sustainability certifications (IPW, BWI), Fairview is also Fairtrade Certified.
